Join the OBIE at Open Banking Expo UK on 20 October

The Open Banking Implementation Entity (OBIE) is pleased to announce that it is a media partner for Open Banking Expo in London for the second year running and we are thrilled to be promoting our world-leading ecosystem. 

We will be joining a stellar line-up of more than 650 of the UK’s open banking innovators, disruptors, and visionaries at the Business Design Centre, Islington, N1 0QH on 20 October. 

Members of the OBIE team will be joining experts on the following panels: 

  • SME Finance stage 10.15How is Open Banking enabling Fintechs to better serve SMEs? 
    Connie Castro-Feijoo, OBIE Ecosystem Engagement Specialist, joins Cuscal’s Jamie Leach, Xero’s Michael Green, Funding Options’ Simon Cureton and Comma’s Tom Beckenham to explore the benefits open banking can bring to the UK’s small and medium-sized businesses. 
  • Global Focus stage 11.15Technical standards. From barrier to gateway 
    Fiona Hamilton, OBIE Head of Standards, joins Brian Costello from Circit, Graham Robinson from 10x Banking and FDATA’s Richard Prior to debate the role of technical standards in key markets and how to support a roadmap towards greater harmonisation.  
  • Open Data stage 14.00 Beyond banking. The future is smart data 
    Charlotte Crosswell, OBIE Chair and Trustee, joins Faith Reynolds from the Finance Innovation Lab, Heather Xiao from Standard Chartered, Jane Hunt MP, Minister for Small Business, Consumers & Labour Markets, Yapily’s Maria Palmieri and Mistho’s Max Czymoch, to discuss how smart data can play a vital role in improving the lives of consumers and businesses. 
  • Open Banking for Good stage 15.00How open banking is revolutionising the utilities sector 
    David Beardmore, OBIE Ecosystem Development Director, talks to Michelle Atkinson, Head of Income at United Utilities, in this fireside chat to understand how open banking payments and account information services are transforming the UK’s utilities industry. 

David Beardmore says, “As the UK’s open banking ecosystem matures and user adoption continues to grow, with over six million users and counting, we are looking forward to seeing the next wave of innovations in open banking, including variable recurring payments, take flight.
